Silicate textiles are very resistant to corrosion and most chemicals. They have excellent electrical and thermal insulation properties they remain flexible and soft even at high temperatures.

In addition to these excellent properties, silicate textiles have excellent thermal shock resistance, e.g. they resist molten metal (e.g. aluminium), they are resistant to flying sparks and welding beads as well as direct firing. For that reason, they are use very often as a heat shield. They can be laminated with aluminium and processed to insulation pillow or curtains.
